Mission:

The International Alternative Culture Center (IACC) is a non-profit organization which aims to facilitate research on and promote alternative cultural expression around the world. The goal of the IACC is to become the leading global center for the study of alternative culture, both past and present. It will do so through the hosting, sponsorship of, and participation in a wide-range of research, educational and cultural projects; art and media exhibitions, festivals, film screenings and the organization of public events; and through both academic and non-academic publishing activities. It understands alternative culture to include diverse forms of cultural expression and activity, which are connected by their goal of creating more just, humane and equitable human relations by means of their opposition to existing cultural, social, and political forms.

Philosophy:

1. To promote diverse forms of cultural expression and activity in order create more just, humane and equitable human relations.

2. To promote activities at the global, European, national, regional and local levels in order to foster international cultural cooperation and intercultural dialogue.

3. To work towards providing equal opportunities for all by addressing issues of discrimination with a focus on rights, representation, recognition and respect.

Objectives:

1. To raise general awareness of alternative culture; to shape civil society's response to this phenomenon and foster public debate.

2. To facilitate research on alternative cultural expression around the world, specifically by promoting studies in history and theory of alternative culture and by providing a forum for scholarly communication.

3. To work toward introducing topics related to alternative culture into higher education curricula. To involve young people, particularly those from the arts and culture milieu, in the dialogue on alternative culture through the initiation of various educational projects.

4. To nurture alternative cultural expression around the world in its various forms and manifestations and to provide a venue for dialogue on ideas and experiences and for cross-fertilization.

5. To promote the preservation of alternative cultural heritage and to study how globalization and the digital revolution has affected culture, the arts, and the media.

6. To build network of scholars, educators, cultural operators, policy makers, artists, journalists and other people and institutions involved in alternative culture and international cultural policies.
