VERZIO 4 International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival

Budapest,  6-11 November 2007

Verzio will be launching again in Budapest with 42 documentaries from 26 countries in the Main Program.
The festival provides an outstanding selection of contemporary documentary cinema on human condition in Europe, Asia and overseas. 34 out of the 42 films are Hungarian premieres. Issues include: political oppression, religious fanaticism, social rights, war zones and crisis spots, nationalism, gender, poverty, migration, and children's rights. The 42 films, many of which have been awarded at prestigious international film festivals have been selected from among the over 450 submissions.

All films have English subtitles

In an elementary school in the city of Wuhan in central China, eight-year old children compete for the position of Class Monitor. Their parents, devoted to their only child, join in and start to influence the results. An experiment with democracy in China.
Special guest | Jean Tsien, editor of the film

Verzio retrospective presents 5 classics of Nick Broomfield, British master of documentary cinema. Photo exhibit |  A selection of prize-winning photographs of the international photo competition Chachipe, representing Roma from Bulgaria, the Czech republic, Croatia, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Montenegro, Slovakia and Hungary will be on display in Galeria Centralis, Budapest  V., Arany János utca 32. Free entrance


Workshop | OSA Archivum in collaboration with OSI-HESP Regional Seminar for Excellence in Teaching organizes the workshop Alternative Images | Documentary as Counter-Culture to be held on 8-9 November, 2007 at OSA Archivum (Arany János 32, Budapest, Hungary). Free entrance
